What should I expect at my first visit?
I will review your medical history, medications, home/work environment, and perform a thorough assessment to properly evaluate your condition. You should wear loose fitting clothes if possible and have comfortable footwear available. I like to evaluate you based on what you do normally at home, so if you normally walk around barefoot that is totally fine. We will then discuss the findings, provide home exercises, and formulate a treatment plan. Visits typically last an hour.

What will I have to do in between visits?
It is very important to do your home exercise program! I can't state the importance of this enough. While therapy is important to help you get better, what you do outside of therapy is just as important. Good home exercise compliance leads to better and faster results. I know that motivation can be tough and many of us are pressed for time. I provide you with simple exercises that can be done in just a few minutes, but also work on multiple things at once, so you don't have to do as many.

Do I need to get a doctor’s order to see you?
While it is great if you already have one, it is not necessary. We can reach out to your doctor after your first visit, if needed, to communicate any concerns, goals, and/or your PT plan of care. If we are seeing you for a condition not previously evaluated by your doctor, after 30 days we need to have an order and a signed plan of care to continue therapy.

Do I need to be "homebound" to receive therapy from you?
No, that is for traditional homecare only. We are an outpatient therapy provider so you do not need to be homebound.

Isn’t it better if I go to a "regular" clinic?
It is truly a personal preference. The pros of doing therapy at home is that you don't have to worry about transportation logistics. For some people, traveling to an outpatient clinic can be very tiring. With us that is not an issue. In addition, having someone come to your home is a real time saver if you are busy. Furthermore, there is less exposure to sickness and germs. If you have additional Covid concerns please know that I am vaccinated, boosted, and wear a mask to help alleviate any of your concerns.
I bring all the equipment that is needed for your rehabilitation to your home, making it just as effective as a traditional outpatient clinic. I have weights, bands, elastic tubes, balance foam, balance boards, steps, Swiss balls, and a portable bike. The best part is that you receive one-on-one care for the entire session!

What kind of cleaning procedure do you follow?
When I come to your home, I will place a barrier under my bag and everything is wiped and sprayed down with alcohol or similar disinfectant to avoid transmission of germs. I always wash my hands prior to treatment.
Can we do therapy somewhere other than my home?
Yes, unless your therapy is being paid for by Medicare. Medicare requires that visits be in your home. Otherwise, I can come see you at your workplace, the park, wherever you prefer or wherever is convenient for you.

What areas do you travel to?
Our home base is in the Waterford Lakes area of East Orlando. We generally travel within a 20 minute radius of that area. Anything beyond that will be determined on a case by case basis. For areas that are beyond that 20 minute radius, there is a $25 travel fee.

What are the payment options?
We work with many insurance plans in addition to Medicare and Medicare Advantage. Private insurance plans usually have a small copay each visit. Medicare typically covers 80% of your outpatient physical therapy and your secondary plan picks up the remaining 20%, once you have met your deductible.

What forms of payment do you accept?
Cash, check, or credit card. Checks can be made out to Total Care Physical Therapy and Wellness LLC.

Does insurance pay for wellness visits?
No, wellness is typically a self pay/out of pocket service.
