About Me

My name is Marcy Frederico and I have been a physical therapist since 1993.  I have worked in a wide variety of settings including hospital based acute care, inpatient rehabilitation, outpatient neurological rehabilitation including stroke and brain injury, aquatic therapy, outpatient orthopedics, vestibular rehabilitation. pelvic health rehabilitation, and the home care setting.

I decided to start Total Care Physical Therapy and Wellness because I knew there had to be a better way to deliver care. I was frustrated with the newer model of physical therapy where therapists do the evaluation and then hand treatment off to an assistant. I also didn't like the productivity standards at many PT clinics requiring the treatment of multiple patients at once. I don't feel that is the best way to deliver care, and certainly does not allow patients to receive the best attention from their therapist.  PT sessions are one on one for a full hour with me as your therapist, no assistants, aides, or techs. This enables me to take a holistic approach, treat the "whole" person, and provide the best level of care possible to you.

I have taken additional coursework on balance and fall prevention, strength training, and geriatric orthopedics, and have completed the Herman and Wallace Pelvic Floor 1 training to be able to treat common pelvic health conditions, and am a Certified Postpartum Corrective Exercise Specialist (PCES).  I have additional training in the Meeks Method for osteoporosis, am vestibular trained through the Susan Herdman competency program, and have completed the 3 week course of adult NDT (neurodevelopmental technique) training.

I look forward to the opportunity to work with you and help you meet your goals. My goal is to provide you with excellent care and truly listen to your issues at hand, to help you reach your highest potential.

On a personal level,  I am a native Jersey girl.  I attended the University of Delaware (Go Blue Hens!) and received my Biology degree in 1991.   During my freshman year, I was involved in a very serious car accident and suffered a concussion, numerous rib fractures, and a shattered wrist and ankle.  I received physical therapy for several months but prior to that did not know much about the field.  After experiencing how much it helped me, I decided to pursue it as a career.  I attended Hahnemann University (now Drexel) in Philadelphia, received my Masters of Physical Therapy in 1993, moved down to the sunshine state shortly after graduation, and the rest is history!   I currently enjoy staying active and love running, cycling, softball, tennis, weight training, and have completed 7 marathons.  As an aging athlete who has had my own share of injuries, I totally understand the strong desire to return to sports and activity, and embrace the challenge to help you meet your own goals.   I strongly believe that one's lifestyle determines their true age, and that we should not put limits on what we can achieve!
